Kathmandu, July 8: The quarterfinal lineup for the FIFA World Cup 2026 has been finalized following the conclusion of all Round of 16 matches on Wednesday morning.
The quarterfinals will kick off on Thursday night, with France taking on Morocco in the opening clash. France booked their place in the last eight with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Paraguay, while Morocco cruised past Canada 3-0.
The second quarterfinal will see Spain face Belgium. Spain edged Portugal 1-0 in the Round of 16, whereas Belgium produced an impressive 4-1 win over the United States to secure their spot.
The winners of the first and second quarterfinals will meet in the first semifinal.
In the third quarterfinal, Norway will go head-to-head with England. Norway stunned five-time world champions Brazil with a dramatic 3-2 victory, while England defeated co-hosts Mexico by the same 3-2 scoreline.
The fourth and final quarterfinal will feature Argentina against Switzerland. Argentina overcame Egypt 3-2, while Switzerland advanced after defeating Colombia 4-3 in a penalty shootout following a closely contested match.
The winners of the third and fourth quarterfinals will face each other in the second semifinal, with all four remaining teams aiming to secure a place in the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.
