Kathmandu, Aug 1: The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has set up a system to sell cooking gas or LPG cylinders from five different companies at its Teku office.
Starting today, customers in the Kathmandu Valley can purchase cylinders from Nepal Gas, HP, Everest, Sugam, and Shriram gas industries through the respective industries.
According to NOC Spokesperson, Manoj Thakur, these industries will be selling and distributing 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinders from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The NOC has reported that around 49 thousand metric tons of gas was imported just in July 17. From July 17 to 30, the industrialists imported 26.5 metric tons of cooking gas.
“There is no shortage of cooking gas; we’re supplying as per the demand. The only hiccup occurred when we switched from the 7.1 kg cylinder to the 14.2 kg one,” Thakur explained.
While the NOC insists that cooking gas is being provided as needed, consumers have voiced concerns about difficulties in obtaining it. Reports of cooking gas shortages have emerged from various locations across the country, including the Kathmandu Valley.
