Kathmandu, Sept 15: A bilateral meeting took place on Tuesday between Minister for Youth, Labour and Employment, Ramji Yadav, and the Malaysian Chargé d’Affaires to Nepal, Mohammad Firdaus Azman.
During the meeting, Minister Yadav expressed the Government of Nepal’s serious concern regarding the listing of certain licensed foreign employment agencies as ‘principal’ and ‘subsidiary’ entities within Malaysia’s FWCMS system. He requested that the criteria and evaluation system used for listing these agencies be officially shared with the Government of Nepal.
Minister Yadav made it clear that the Government of Nepal would not accept any arrangement—contrary to existing laws or the bilateral labour agreement—that restricts competition in the foreign employment sector or establishes the dominance of a limited number of agencies or groups. He emphasized the need to ensure equal opportunities, transparency, and fair competition for all licensed agencies. Additionally, he conveyed that some of the listed agencies have expressed a desire to withdraw from the FWCMS system.
Minister Yadav also requested the Chargé d’Affaires to facilitate bilateral diplomatic consultations and coordinate with the Malaysian government to resolve this issue as soon as possible.
