Kathmandu, Aug 30: A total of 2,715 people have been rescued from Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and other areas affected by the August 26 Bhotekoshi floods.
According to Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General of Police Abinarayan Kafle, some of the injured people rescued from various places have been brought to Kathmandu for treatment. The number of people brought to the federal capital so far includes 160 people, of which some have been discharged after treatment in different hospitals.
Some personnel of the Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, Nepal have also been reported missing since the devastating floods. This include 44 from Nepal Army, 27 from Nepal Police and 13 from the Armed Police Force, Nepal.
Security personnel and rescue teams from Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal and other relevant agencies are continuing search and rescue operations in different areas affected by the floods and likely to be found.
Meanwhile, Nepal Police has stated that 768 bodies have been found from various districts as of 2:00 pm today. Of them, 13 bodies were found in Rasuwa, 50 in Dhading, 37 in Tanahun, 52 in Nuwakot, 58 in Gorkha, 264 in Chitwan, 194 in Nawalparasi East and 100 in Nawalparasi West.
Likewise, 1,321 people are still reported missing from Nuwakot and Rasuwa. District Disaster Management Committee Nuwakot Coordinator and Chief District Officer Shambhu Prasad Regmi informed that 2,456 people have been rescued from Nuwakot and Rasuwa so far.
Among those rescued, 2,225 are Nepalis and 231 are foreigners. Similarly, he said that the bodies of 64 people have been collected. Among those reported missing are 1,109 Nepalis and 157 are foreigners. Similarly, he informed that 55 people have not been identified yet.
Chief District Officer Regmi shared that 84 people, including security personnel and Nepal Electricity Authority employees, are working in the search and rescue at Upper Trishuli III ‘A’ hydropower project. Similarly, the Disaster Management Committee has stated that search and rescue is underway in Trishuli III ‘B’.
A joint team of 600 security personnel equipped with helicopters and trained dogs have been mobilized for the search and rescue.
