Army installs Bailey bridge over Budhigandaki in Aarughat, installation over in two days

Kathmandu, Oct 19: The Nepali Army (NA) has concluded a project to install a Bailey bridge over the Budhigandaki River in Aarughat connecting Dhading and Gorkha district. The project was concluded in two days and handed to the authority concerned.

According to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information, the Bailey bridge was handed to the Gorkha Road Project on Monday, following the completion of its installation.

The flood in the Budhigandaki on October 11 damaged the cemented bridge over the river. The flood washed away a section of the bridge towards Gorkha district. The NA’s promptness in concluding the project on a very short time has been commended from the locals-level.

With the installation of this Bailey bridge measuring approximately 27.43 meters in length and 4.2 meters in width, movement for residents in the areas surrounding Dhading and Gorkha is expected to be easier.

The NA also believes that the installation of the infrastructure and its operation will facilitate the transport of essential relief supplies and other emergency materials to the flood-affected areas.
