Kathmandu, Sept 8: The Ministry of Health and Food Safety has sent anti-cholera vaccines to the flood-affected areas in Nuwakot.
According to the Ministry, 80 thousand 523 doses (23 boxes) of the cholera vaccine along with 10 fridge-free vaccine carriers, 220 ice packs of 0.6 liters capacity, and eight fridge tags have been dispatched to Nuwakot today.
On Sunday, 21 thousand doses of vaccine were sent to Rasuwa by helicopter. Also, a vaccination campaign against cholera will be launched in Rasuwa this Thursday.
The Ministry of Health has stated that a vaccination campaign is being launched in the flood-affected areas with a focus on preventing infections, as the drinking water and sanitation systems have been affected by the flood, increasing the risk of cholera and other waterborne diseases.
