Karki’s Petition Challenging Removal as IGP Registered at Supreme Court

Kathmandu, Nov, 6:  A writ petition filed by Dan Bahadur Karki challenging the government’s decision to remove him as Inspector General of Police (IGP) was registered at the Supreme Court on Friday.

The petition was initially submitted on Thursday but was not registered immediately as the Supreme Court administration sought time to examine it. Karki’s legal representative, Abhash Regmi, confirmed that the petition was registered on Friday. The hearing has been scheduled for November 16 (Kartik 30).

Karki has sought reinstatement, claiming that his removal from the post was unlawful. The government removed him on Wednesday and appointed Manoj KC as the new IGP.

Following his removal, the government assigned Karki the role of security adviser to the Prime Minister. However, he has declined to accept the appointment.
