Kathmandu, Oct. 21: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Kumar Thapa has extended his best wishes on Bijaya Dashami, expressing hope that the festival will further strengthen the spirit of harmony and togetherness in society.
In his Dashain message, Thapa wished all Nepalis the inner strength to overcome their own shortcomings, the compassion to understand others’ suffering and a stronger sense of social harmony.
Noting that Dashain is being celebrated this year amid a national disaster and widespread suffering, he said many families were going through grief, pain and hardship.
”At such a time, the joy of our festivals should not remain confined to our own homes and courtyards. We should be able to bring even a little comfort to families in distress, share our happiness and stand by one another,” Thapa articulated in his message.
He stressed the importance of compassion, sharing and mutual support, saying the true spirit of the festival should extend beyond personal celebrations to include those facing difficult circumstances.
The 10th day of the Bada Dasain festival (also known as Bijaya Dashami) is being celebrated all over the country today with great enthusiasm by receiving ‘tika’ and blessings from elders.
