Agency, Oct 13: Al Nassr secured their first victory in the AFC Champions League Elite West Zone, defeating 10-man Neftchi Fergana 3-1 on Monday night.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Angelo scored a goal each, while an own goal helped Al Nassr seal all three points at Al-Awwal Park.
Angelo opened the scoring for the home side in the 33rd minute before Ronaldo doubled the advantage nine minutes later, giving Al Nassr a comfortable 2-0 lead at half-time.
Neftchi Fergana responded in the 51st minute through Alisher Odilov, reducing the deficit to 2-1 and briefly raising hopes of a comeback.
However, the visitors’ task became more difficult in the 65th minute when Ikrom Alibaev was sent off, leaving Neftchi Fergana with 10 players.
Al Nassr capitalised on their numerical advantage in the 78th minute when Anvar Gofurov scored an own goal, extending the hosts’ lead to 3-1 and confirming their victory.
With the win, Al Nassr moved to eighth place in the standings with three points from two matches. Neftchi Fergana, who also have three points from two games, sit seventh.
