Kathmandu, Aug 14: A tri-party agreement has been reached among the Nepal Agricultural Cooperatives Central Federation Limited (NACCFL) , Sana Kisan Bikash Laghubitta Bittiyasanstha Ltd (SKBBL) and the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC).
The agreement signed by NCCFL general manager Dr Rudra Bahadur Shrestha, SKBBL chief executive officer Basu Adhikari and DDC general manager Dr Saran Kumar Pandey aims to facilitate the milk supplies chain between the DDC and farmers and payment of dues to farmers.
As per the agreement, NACCFL and SKBBL partner dairy cooperatives and members shall provide 15,000 litres of milk per day to DDC, beginning on August 17. The document warrants the DDC to pay the due amount for earlier received milks to the markers within the next one month. It further states that the quantity and quality of milk should be maintained as it is measured at the initial collection centre, and arrangements should be made for milk convergence.
During the agreement signing ceremony, DDC general manager Pandey expressed confidence that the agreement would prove to be a milestone in promoting the development of the dairy sector.
SKBBL chair Khem Bahadur Pathak was of the view that it would help promote farmers’ income, production and self-sufficiency.
NACCFL president Yekaraj Upreti that the agreement with DDC is historic for Nepali dairy farmers. The organization has been collecting 47,000 litres of milk daily through the network of the central federation.
