Kathmandu, Aug 14: Nepali Congress leaders, dissatisfied with the establishment faction, have underscored the urgency of unity within party to bolster democracy.
Addressing the inaugural function of the national gathering they organized, the leaders mentioned that the NC’s unity counts to resolve crisis and challenges before nationalism in the country.
Leader Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat compared the conduct of special general convention of NC with the Gen Z movement in the country. NC faced unexpected result in the election. He hoped the Supreme Court would cater justice to entire party.
Leader NP Saud said NC was in trouble after the special general convention was held hastily all because of ambitions of particular leaders. Mahalaxmi Upadhyay (Dina) argued contribution and struggle of senior leaders must be hailed to advance the party.
It was untimely conduct of special general convention that put party in trouble, according to Ramesh Lekhak. In view of Bir Bahadur Balayar, NC must not compromise BP’s principles.
Other leaders addressing the event were Mohan Bahadur Basnet, Purnaman Tamang, Umakanta Chaudhary, Bhimsen Das Pradhan, Durlav Thapa, Rajesh Yadav, Mekhraj Shrestha, Gehendra Giri, Shiva Prasad Humagain, Uma Bhattarai, Guru Baral, Sita Rana, Padam Narayan Chaudhary, Dipak Khadka, Sarita Prasai, Rewati Bhusal, Raju Shrestha, Ganesh Timilsina and Jagat Baram. They stressed that NC must be united.
The national gathering organized by the Deuba group will continue for three days.
The event is being held at Miracle Party Venue at Sukedhara, Kathmandu. Event publicity committee coordinator Min Bahadur Bishwokarma informed that the gathering would have a closed session on Saturday and Sunday.
