Jumla Inland Revenue Office collects Rs 480 million in revenue

Jumla, Aug. 8: The Inland Revenue Office in Jumla collected Rs 480 million in revenue in the fiscal year 2082/83 BS.

Chief Tax Officer of the Jumla Inland Revenue Office Prabhat Ghimire shared that the Office achieved 74.45 percent of the annual target in revenue collection adding that the Office was expected to collect Rs 644.8 million in revenue in the last fiscal year.

According to Chief Tax Officer Ghimire, Rs 358.1 million was collected in income tax, Rs 98.8 million in VAT, Rs 8.85 million in excise duty and Rs 14.3 million was received in other headings.

He argued that taxpayer services have been run in the district prioritizing the large and small-scale business community in the district.

The Office stated that income tax has increased slightly in the current fiscal year while collection of VAT has slowed citing economic slowdown and little progress in capital expenditure.

The Office has registered 1,750 taxpayers for VAT, 17,084 for income tax and 565 for excise duty.
The Jumla Inland Revenue Office covers Mugu and Kalikot districts too.
