Kathmandu, May 28: Irrigation facility is available on total 1 million 590 thousand hectares of land from the projects operated in federal-level by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation.
As per the ministry-level progress details of the current fiscal year released by the Finance Ministry, of the irrigable land, 532,655 hectares is getting irrigation facility throughout the year.
The government has forwarded some large and significant projects in order to provide irrigation facility throughout the year. According to the Ministry, 546,448 hectares of irrigated land has been expanded from underground irrigation projects while 6077 hectares of irrigated land from lift and reservoir-based irrigation programmes.
A total of 1,518 kilometers of embankment has been constructed at large and medium-size rivers as well as 13,891 hectares of land has been recovered from embankment construction.
