Raipur, May 14: Virat Kohli century powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to the top of the Indian Premier League standings with a six-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday night.
Chasing a challenging target of 193 runs, Bengaluru reached 194/4 in 19.1 overs to seal an important win and move to the top of the table. Kohli starred with a magnificent unbeaten 105 off 60 balls, smashing 11 fours and three sixes in a match-winning knock.
Devdutt Padikkal contributed 39 runs, while Jacob Bethell added 15 and skipper Rajat Patidar chipped in with 11 runs.
For Kolkata, Kartik Tyagi was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 32 runs in four overs, while Sunil Narine picked up one wicket.
Earlier, after being put into bat in Raipur, Kolkata posted a competitive total of 192/4 in their 20 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi led the innings with a brilliant 71 off 46 deliveries, hitting seven fours and three sixes.
Rinku Singh remained unbeaten on 49 from 29 balls with three boundaries and two sixes, while Cameron Green scored 32. Captain Ajinkya Rahane made 19 and Finn Allen added 18 runs.
For Bengaluru, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Rasikh Salam took one wicket each.
With the victory, Bengaluru climbed to the top of the IPL standings with 16 points from 12 matches. Kolkata, who have played one game fewer, remain eighth with nine points.
