Punjab Kings edge Sunrisers Hyderabad in high-scoring IPL thriller

New Chandigarh, April 11: Punjab Kings pulled off a sensational six-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League on Saturday, registering their third win of the season in a run-filled contest.

Chasing a formidable target of 220, Punjab produced a dazzling batting display, racing to 223 for 4 in just 18.5 overs to seal the win with seven balls to spare.

Captain Shreyas Iyer led the charge with a superb 69 off 33 balls, finding the boundary five times and clearing it on five occasions. He found able support from Prabhsimran Singh, who struck 51 off 25 deliveries, and Priyansh Arya, who blazed his way to 57 from only 20 balls—his innings laced with five fours and five sixes.

Useful contributions from Shashank Singh (16), Nehal Wadhera (14), and Cooper Connolly (11) helped Punjab complete the chase in emphatic fashion.

For Hyderabad, Shivam Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, returning figures of 3 for 33 from his four overs, while Harsh Dubey claimed a solitary wicket.

Earlier, after being asked to bat first, Sunrisers Hyderabad piled up an imposing 219 for 6 in their 20 overs. Opener Abhishek Sharma starred with a blistering 74 off just 28 balls, smashing eight sixes and five fours. He received valuable support from Heinrich Klaasen (39), Travis Head (38), captain Ishan Kishan (27), and Aniket Verma (18).

Arshdeep Singh and Shashank Singh took two wickets each for Punjab, while Xavier Bartlett chipped in with one.

With this victory, Punjab Kings climb to second place on the points table with seven points from four matches, while Sunrisers Hyderabad remain sixth with two points from the same number of games.
