Westerly low pressure system influence: Rain/snowfall likely in different parts

Kathmandu, March 27: At present there is a partial influence of the Westerly Low Pressure System along with local winds in the country, the Weather Forecasting Division stated.

As its consequence, forecasts of cloudy weather with rain and snowfall in different parts of the country have been made.

Weather is generally cloudy in the Sudurpaschim Province and other hilly and mountainous regions of the country, while remaining Terai areas have mainly clear weather.

Some places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Bagmati and Gandaki Provinces and a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi Province are experiencing light to moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunder and lightning.

According to the Division, this afternoon most of the mountainous areas in the country will be mostly cloudy, hilly areas will be generally cloudy, and Terai regions will be partly cloudy.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunder, lightning, hailstorm, and gusty winds in many places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki Provinces and in a few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of other provinces.

Moderate rainfall is likely to occur in some places in the Terai.
Tonight, the mountainous areas will be mostly cloudy, while the hilly areas, including Koshi and Madhesh Provinces, will be generally cloudy, and the Terai will be partly cloudy.

There is a possibility of moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunder, lightning, hailstorm and gusty winds in some areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, as well as in the hilly and mountainous parts of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, the weather bulletin stated.

In view of the weather conditions, the Division has urged the general public and concerned authorities to stay alert for possible rain, snowfall and hail in many hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces and in some areas of other provinces and to obtain the latest weather information.
