HoR polls crucial to safeguard achievements and to explore new opportunities, President says

Kathmandu, March 2: President Ramchandra Paudel has expressed confidence that the House of Representatives (HoR) elections scheduled for March 5 will redefine the nation’s journey to progress, social justice, development and prosperity to take them to a new high.

In an address to the nation today ahead of the HoR elections, President Paudel said that it was a historic necessity to move forward towards new possibilities by safeguarding and promoting the recent achievements.

“The election is going to take place as the outlet of a complex situation of our political history. This election is not merely a constitutional process to elect representatives but a historic opportunity to further expand and ensure a robust and credible journey of the federal democratic republic. So, it is our common job and historical responsibility to make this election a success,” according to the President.

President Paudel expressed the confidence that the upcoming HoR elections will make the democratic exercise more credible and mature.

“The country has made significant achievements in recent years. We have established the federal democratic republic after a long struggle and sacrifices. Today, an inclusive state mechanism has been ensured through the new constitution,” the President viewed.
Paudel stated that this election would fulfill the dreams of martyrs, demands of Gen-Z for good governance, transparency and accountability.

In his address to the nation, President Paudel has recalled the impressive progress made in the country in the areas of education, health care, roads, energy and communications infrastructures in the last decade.

He viewed that such achievements are the result of people’s active participation as well as their sacrifices and trust.

Likewise, President Paudel stated that much is left to do for good-governance, social justice, accountable governance and public service delivery, and expressed his confidence that the upcoming elections would provide new vigour to democracy by institutionalizing the very aspirations.

Similarly, Paudel has urged all political parties, candidates, civil society, media and stakeholders to remain firm to hold the elections in a free, fair and fearless manner.
