Govt to provide education, health, and employment support for those injured in Gen Z Uprising

Kathmandu, Dec 8: The government has decided to proceed with arrangements for education, health, and employment support to those injured during the ‘Gen-Z’ Uprising.

The cabinet meeting held today also approved the ‘Gen Z Injured Relief Assistance Procedure 2082’ to provide support to those injured or mutilated during the September protests, informed Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel.

The meeting further decided to honour the late journalist Suresh Rajak, who lost his life during the demonstrations at Tinkune, Kathmandu on 28 March 2025, by declaring him a martyr.

In addition, for the fiscal year 2025/26, the minimum purchase price for sugarcane produced by farmers has been determined at Rs 620 per quintal. As per the Cabinet decision, the government will continue to provide a subsidy of Rs 70 per quintal to farmers.

Likewise, the list of poor families from ten different districts has been sanctioned.
Total 27 poor families have been approved, including those from Tehrathum, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat–Susta East and West), Parbat, Morang, and Sunsari.
Additionally, the ‘Financial Procedures and Fiscal Responsibility (Second Amendment) Regulation 2082’ has been approved.

It has been decided to promote joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar Paudel to the vacant Secretary position in the special category under the Nepal Administrative Service.
