Sudurpaschim, March 10: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has instructed party leaders and cadres to resolve mutual disagreements and misunderstanding and focus on strengthening the party organisation.
During his address to the party’s first Sudurpashim provincial conference in Dhangadhi on Monday, he defended the formation of the incumbent coalition government, citing that it was the need of the hour and demanded by the parliament’s equation.
“No single party could secure a majority in the election as the nation has implemented the inclusive and proportional electoral system, mandating political parties to forge an alliance for the government formation,” he said, pressing the need of cooperation and unity within the political competency.
Also speaking at the programme, Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka urged party cadres and leaders to highlight the good deeds of the party to generate people’s trust and belief towards the party.
Party General Secretary Gagan Kumar Thapa said there have been grievances from the mass that despite changes in the country’s system, the status of citizens has remained the same. “Dissatisfactions at the civic level should be addressed.”
Party’s another General Secretary Bishwa Prakash Sharma said the mass welfare is possible from the existing system and present time demands the party to act with patience, unity and maturity.
Party leader and Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak said,” Ploy against the system and the Constitution is a conspiracy against the Nepali Congress.”
He warned forces ‘resistance’ to change to not take tolerance and liberal approach, the features of Nepali democracy, as weaknesses of the system.
Party Vice President Purna Bahadur Khada, Spokesperson Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat, other leaders Jeevan Pariyar, Bhishma Raj Aangdembe, Mahalaxmi ( Dina ) Upadhyay, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Dr Shashanka Koirla, party leader and Chief Minister of Sudurpashim Province, Kamal Bahadur Shah and party Province President Bir Bahadur Balayar addressed the inaugural session.
