Kathmandu, Aug 29: A total of 82 security personnel have been mobilized to rescue those trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli III-A Hydropower Project.
The team includes 62 from the Nepal Army and the remaining from the Armed Forces and Nepal Police, according to the Nepal Army Directorate of Public Relations and Information.
Rescue operations are underway since Friday under the command of the Nepal Army. So far, 191 people were rescued from the tunnel on Friday.
The Directorate also reports that as of 8:00 am today, a total of 2,265 people including both domestic and foreign nationals, affected by the floods have been rescued by Army helicopters and taken to safer locations. They were rescued from Timure, Syafrubeshi, Dhunche and Mailung areas of Rasuwa district.
More than 6,700 army troops are deployed in the affected districts and are coordinating search and rescue operations, emergency treatment, and distribution of relief materials.
