Bhadrapur, Aug 2: The number of human-animal conflicts has risen in Jhapa district, causing both human causalities and death of wildlife.
The Division Forest Office, Bhadrapur, stated that a total of 80 people have died in the past 16 years, while 28 elephants were killed during the review period.
Chief of Division Forest Office Nathuni Yadav said that 70 Nepalis and 10 other nationals were killed during the period.
He added that every year on an average five people are dying in elephant attacks adding that 2080 BS recorded the highest number of human causality in the human-wildlife conflicts. Altogether eight people including three women died in the elephant attacks in the year 2080 BS and six people died in the last fiscal year.
