Twenty people were killed and 134 others were injured in an accident that occurred at a factory in the Shilovsky district of Russia’s Ryazan region, according to the regional operations headquarters.
According to Russia’s (TASS) news agency, 31 patients are in hospitals, while 103 patients are undergoing outpatient treatment.
The relevant authorities reported that search and rescue operations are still ongoing.
Russia’s Ryazan region is home to a number of large industrial facilities, including factories for chemicals, metals and plastics. Over the past decades, it has witnessed several industrial accidents that resulted in numerous deaths and injuries.
