Lumbini receives medical supplies from Leshan of Sichuan

Kathmandu: The Lumbini Development Trust (LDT) has received medical supplies worth 4 million rupees as aid from the Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area Management Committee in Sichuan province of China.

At the request of LDT, the Leshan municipality people’s government has donated 15 sets of oxygen concentrator, 50 thousand surgical mask, 2,000 PPE sets and 2,000 medical goggles.

The goods arrived in Kathmandu on a chartered flight of Himalaya Airlines from Kunming of Yunnan Province on Friday, according to Chief Administrative Officer of the Trust Gyanin Rai.

Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha has established sister relations with the Leshan Giant Buddha Area in Sichuan province of China. Both are UNESCO world heritage sites.

The giant statute of Buddha carved out on a hilly is regarded as the world’s biggest stone statue of Buddha.

Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area Management Committee, on behalf of the Leshan Municipal People’s Government, donated the medial essential to help Nepal’s fight against the new wave of COVID-19, the Committee said in a delivery letter to LDT .

“As good friends and partners. we are willing to send you power and warmth from Leshan in this difficult time,” Committee’s letter reads, “We believe that with solidarity and help, Nepal will be able to overcome this wave of COVID-19.”
