Chinese President Xi extends congratulations to Nepal’s president over Nepal’s national day

BEIJING, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) :  Chinese President Xi Jinping on Saturday sent a congratulatory message to Nepali President Ram Chandra Poudel on the occasion of Nepal’s national day.

In his message, Xi emphasized that China and Nepal are good neighbors, good friends and good partners connected by shared mountains and rivers. Since the establishment of diplomatic ties 70 years ago, regardless of changes in the international landscape or Nepal’s domestic situation, the two countries have consistently upheld the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and treated each other with sincerity, mutual respect and mutual support, with bilateral ties maintaining sound and steady development.

Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Nepal relations and expects to work with President Poudel to continue fostering traditional friendship, strengthen mutual political trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and push for new developments of the China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity, so as to bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.

On the same day, Chinese Premier Li Qiang also sent a congratulatory message to Sushila Karki, the prime minister of Nepal’s interim government. Enditem
