{"id":57842,"date":"2026-11-05T12:41:25","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T06:56:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=57842"},"modified":"2026-11-05T12:41:25","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T06:56:25","slug":"angdembe-seeks-explanation-over-igps-removal-questions-how-seized-phone-reached-pm-advisers-residence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/angdembe-seeks-explanation-over-igps-removal-questions-how-seized-phone-reached-pm-advisers-residence\/","title":{"rendered":"Angdembe Seeks Explanation Over IGP\u2019s Removal, Questions How Seized Phone Reached PM Adviser\u2019s Residence"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Nov, 5: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe has questioned the government\u2019s decision to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki before the end of his tenure, demanding clarification on the grounds for the move.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post, Angdembe asked why the government had to remove Karki when he still had around 17 months remaining in office.<\/p>\n<p>He criticized the government for prioritizing the removal of the police chief while citizens continue to face hardships caused by floods in Bhotekoshi and Budhigandaki, the displacement of landless squatters and rising inflation.<\/p>\n<p>Angdembe demanded that the government disclose the facts and evidence behind the decision to remove the IGP.<\/p>\n<p>He also questioned conflicting statements from government and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) representatives regarding the decision. While the government spokesperson reportedly said the removal was made on the party&#8217;s instructions, the RSP spokesperson denied that the party had issued such instructions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whose instructions is the government following?&#8221; Angdembe questioned.\u00a0He also raised concerns over reports that a mobile phone seized from a middleman during a police investigation had reached the residence of the Prime Minister&#8217;s chief political adviser.<\/p>\n<p>Questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident, Angdembe asked why an electronic device seized as evidence had been taken to the adviser&#8217;s residence and whether there was any information on it that someone wanted erased.<\/p>\n<p>Angdembe said the people had voted for the current government with expectations of good governance, an end to corruption and improvements in their living standards.<\/p>\n<p>He said the misuse of state power and attempts to control the police administration were unacceptable, describing the removal of the IGP as an exercise in power rather than an effort to ensure good governance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, Nov, 5: Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Bhishmaraj Angdembe has questioned the government\u2019s decision to remove Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dan Bahadur Karki before the end of his tenure, demanding clarification on the grounds for the move.
