{"id":56577,"date":"2026-10-11T15:41:45","date_gmt":"2026-10-11T09:56:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=56577"},"modified":"2026-10-11T15:41:45","modified_gmt":"2026-10-11T09:56:45","slug":"seeds-sown-for-jamara","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/seeds-sown-for-jamara\/","title":{"rendered":"Seeds sown for jamara"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Oct 11: The Hindu Nepalis have sown the seeds for growing jamara, holy seedlings, at Dashainghar or puja chamber of their homes at the auspicious hour of 11:47am today.<br \/>\nThe seeds were sown by following traditional ritual and conducting worship on Ghatasthapana, the first day of the Badadashain festival.<\/p>\n<p>The Nepal Calendar Determination Committee had shared information about the auspicious hour for sowing seeds for jamara.<\/p>\n<p>During nine days, navaratra, various forms of Goddess Devi is worshipped. Various seeds, including barley and wheat, are spread on a little portion of soil kept in a leaf-made plate. Once the navaratra are over, the yellowish sprouts, jamara (holy seedlings) are used as symbol of victory and prosperity after offering it to the Goddess Durga on the Badadshain, the tenth day of the festival.<\/p>\n<p>Specialist in theology, Toyaraj Nepal, informed RSS that during the nine days, three forms of Goddess Durga- Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Mahasaraswati- are worshipped.<\/p>\n<p>Goddess Mahakali is the symbol of power, while Goddess Mahalaxmi of wealth and prosperity and Goddess Mahasaraswati of knowledge and wisdom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, Oct 11: The Hindu Nepalis have sown the seeds for growing jamara, holy seedlings, at Dashainghar or puja chamber of their homes at the auspicious hour of 11:47am today.
