There was significant rainfall in the district in the past 24 hours beginning at 1:00 pm on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr Indira Kandel, the Chief of Office of Meteorology Department (OMD), Surkhet, Simkot, the district headquarters of Humla, received 114.8 millimetres of rains in a period of 24 hours from 1:00 pm of Friday to 1:00 pm of Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, 110mm rainfall was measured in Simkot in 2021 and 98 mm in 2015.<br \/>\n&#8220;This is heavy rainfall, as well as record-breaking rainfall,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>Located at an altitude of 2,993 meters above sea level, Simkot has recorded rainfall data for 14,113 days. Rainfall of more than 1 mm was recorded on 3,794 of those days.<\/p>\n<p>According to her, data from the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology shows that only one day among those 3,794 rainy days recorded more than 100 mm of rainfall. Similarly, rainfall exceeded 75 mm on six days, and 50 mm on 12 days.<\/p>\n<p>She also added that 75.5 mm of rainfall was recorded in Birendranagar, Surkhet, during the 24-hour period from 1:00 PM on Friday (September 25) to 1:00 PM on Saturday, indicating heavy rainfall across the Karnali region.<\/p>\n<p>Chief District Officers in the affected districts reported that the heavy rainfall triggered landslides at various locations in Humla, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Mugu, Jumla, and Salyan districts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Karnali, Sept 26: Humla in the Karnali Province recorded its heaviest rainfall since 1978 as the monsoon shifted westward.
