The infrastructure sector alone witnessed the damages amounting to some Rs 190 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;Rapid Damage and Need Assessment&#8217; report prepared by the National Planning Commission (NPC) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) mentioned that total reconstruction cost will climb to Rs 473.57 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The worst hit is the energy sector, with 13 hydropower plants and five solar plants sustaining damages. The damage equals to the loss of Rs 151 billion. The recovery of this sector is estimated to cost Rs 39.02 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Of 69-km stretch of roads receiving damages in the disaster, 55-km stretch is destroyed, requiring Rs 23.42 billion for repair and Rs 55.18 billion for reconstruction.<\/p>\n<p>The floods wiped out 33 motorable bridges and damaged 53 suspension bridges. The loss incurred in it is estimated Rs 11.35 billion, while rehabilitation costs would be around at Rs 18.16 billion.<br \/>\nIn the communication sector, 27 Ncell and 38 Nepal Telecom towers were affected by the floods, impacting 152.3-km of fibre cable, with the loss of some Rs 630 million. It may need Rs 940 million for the recovery, according to the report jointly prepared by the NPC and NDRRMA.<\/p>\n<p>Loss of Rs 1.38 billion was recorded in the drinking water and sanitation sector, needing reconstruction costs of around Rs 2.7 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the estimated damage in production sector is Rs 1.5 billion. For the recovery of the production sector, it would cost Rs 50.77 billion. The report shared that the economic activities and livelihoods have been affected the most by the devastation- 97.22 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Categorically, livestock sector recorded 0.96 percent impact, while agriculture 0.73 percent and the banking sector 0.61 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Even the fishery has also been affected. A total of Rs 710 million property lost in the fishery. Animal husbandry and poultry farming recorded huge loss that would require Rs 1.73 billion for recovery.<br \/>\nThe floods affected 17 bank offices.
