Trishuli ( Nuwakot), Sept 7: Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot has decided to provide Rs 10,000 each in house-rent assistance to those who were rendered homeless by the Bhotekoshi and subsequently in the Trishuli river systems on August 26.<\/p>\n

A meeting of the Municipality’s 134th town executive meeting on Sunday urged those who lost their homes in the floods to rent alternative accommodation, announcing the financial assistance support for them.<\/p>\n

Likewise, the meeting chaired by Mayor Rajan Shrestha decided to provide other humanitarian assistance including food stuffs, kitchen utensils, and sanitation materials for daily use and other for the affected families. The announcement aims to shorten their stay in the holding centers and encourage them to resettle.<\/p>\n

It has urged house owners not to overcharge the flood affected while renting houses or rooms.
\nThe local government said it would prioritize the construction of temporary shelters in coordination with all three tiers of government, national and international organizations, and donors. It said the effort would take into account the need to move towards a long-term recovery plan as two weeks have passed since the disaster.<\/p>\n

“As the houses have been damaged by the floods, it is not immediately possible to construct new houses at the same locations,” Mayor Shrestha said while making the decision public.
\nMeanwhile, the municipality has decided to resume teaching and learning activities at disaster-affected schools from September 9, except for schools being used as temporary shelters and those whose buildings were completely destroyed.<\/p>\n

Students will be allowed to attend nearby schools based on accessibility and will not be required to wear school uniforms.<\/p>\n

Among the schools whose entire structures were damaged by the floods, Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School in Bidur Municipality-1, Trishuli, will operate classes temporarily from Ward No. 9. The Municipality has agreed to use land belonging to the Urban Development and Building Office and the District Development Committee office in Ward No 9 to establish a temporary learning centre for over 1,050 students of Tribhuvan Trishuli Secondary School<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
