They are the fourth group of Chinese experts sent to Nepal to support the country’s disaster response and victim identification efforts.

Nepal’s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun and Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming attended the handover ceremony for the relief supplies and welcomed the Chinese expert team.

The latest batch includes urgently needed supplies such as mortuary freezers, epidemic prevention materials and daily necessities, according to information provided by the Chinese side.

The Chinese forensic experts will work with relevant Nepali authorities and promptly begin supporting the identification of victims and deceased persons affected by the disaster.

The third batch also includes Bailey bridges, which are critically needed for disaster relief operations in areas where roads and bridges have been damaged by floods and landslides. The bridges are expected to help restore transportation links and facilitate the movement of rescue teams and relief supplies.

Meanwhile, specialized equipment required for erecting the first batch of Bailey bridges has already arrived at the Lizi–Nechung border port by land and is ready for handover.

The latest assistance is part of a series of emergency support provided by China following the disaster. On August 30, China sent its first batch of emergency relief supplies to Nepal, along with Chinese tunnel rescue experts. The first shipment included thousands of emergency items such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food and first-aid kits.

On September 1, the second batch of Chinese emergency relief supplies arrived in Kathmandu aboard another Y-20 aircraft, accompanied by five Chinese DNA identification experts. The second batch included drones, DNA testing equipment and reagents, water purification equipment and lighting devices.

China’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said that the third batch of assistance was being prepared based on Nepal’s requirements and would include Bailey bridges, mortuary refrigerators, epidemic-prevention supplies and emergency communication equipment, while another group of DNA experts would also be sent to Nepal.

The successive arrival of emergency supplies and specialist teams reflects continued Nepal-China cooperation in disaster response, rescue operations and victim identification, as Nepal works to respond to the devastating consequences of the recent floods and landslides.

KATHMANDU, Sept 03: The third batch of China-aid emergency relief supplies arrived in Kathmandu on Thursday as China continues to support Nepal’s emergency response following the devastating floods and landslides in the country.
