KATHMANDU, Sept. 1; China\u2019s second batch of emergency relief supplies for flood- and disaster-affected areas of Nepal arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening aboard a Y-20 large transport aircraft of the Chinese People\u2019s Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force.<\/p>\n

The aircraft landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at around 5:30 p.m. local time, carrying urgently needed relief supplies as well as five Chinese DNA identification experts.<\/p>\n

The five experts are part of the third batch of Chinese aid experts sent to Nepal and will support Nepalese authorities in disaster-related identification work.<\/p>\n

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal\u00a0Zhang Maoming and Nepal\u2019s Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun attended the handover ceremony for the relief supplies and welcomed the Chinese experts upon their arrival.<\/p>\n

According to the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, the second batch of assistance has been provided based on Nepal\u2019s actual needs and includes items urgently required in the disaster-affected areas. The supplies include drones, DNA testing instruments and reagents, water purification equipment, and lighting devices, among other emergency materials.<\/p>\n

The Chinese DNA identification experts will head to the front lines of the disaster-affected areas immediately after their arrival to assist the Nepalese side. Their expertise is expected to support the identification of people who died or remain unidentified following the recent flooding and disasters.<\/p>\n

The arrival of the relief supplies and experts follows remarks made earlier Tuesday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun at the ministry\u2019s regular press conference. Guo said that the second batch of emergency relief supplies for Nepal was expected to depart for the country on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Guo said providing emergency assistance to disaster-affected areas of Nepal and conducting international rescue cooperation was an important political decision by China, reflecting China\u2019s friendly ties with Nepal.<\/p>\n

He also said China would stand firmly with Nepal and work together with the country to overcome the difficulties, describing the assistance as a concrete expression of the traditional friendship between the two neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

The latest Chinese assistance combines urgently needed relief equipment with specialized technical expertise. The support is expected to contribute to Nepal\u2019s ongoing disaster response, including search and rescue operations, identification of victims, access to clean water and restoration of essential services in affected areas.<\/p>\n

China has previously provided emergency relief supplies and expert support to Nepal during natural disasters. The latest assistance further strengthens humanitarian and disaster-response cooperation between Nepal and China.<\/p>\n
