{"id":52281,"date":"2026-08-03T16:25:29","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T10:40:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=52281"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:25:41","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T10:40:41","slug":"na-session-lawmakers-press-need-to-strengthen-social-harmony","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/na-session-lawmakers-press-need-to-strengthen-social-harmony\/","title":{"rendered":"NA session: lawmakers press need to strengthen social harmony"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Aug 3: Members in the National Assembly (NA) have underlined the need of keeping social harmony intact in the present adverse situation.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in the &#8216;special hour&#8217; of a meeting of the National Assembly (NA) today, they urged the government to address farmers&#8217; concerns, ensure job opportunities for youths within the country, maintain mutual harmony and implement effective measures against human trafficking.<\/p>\n<p>Samjhana Devkota proposed the collaboration between the federal and local governments to ease the communal tense in Sunsari of Koshi Province and in the Madhesh Province. She demanded the government provide jobs to youths and be proactive to consolidate the social harmony.<\/p>\n<p>Rajendra Laxmi Gaire expressed concerns over new forms evolving in human traffic, adding that effective strategies are vital for controlling them.<\/p>\n<p>Lack of job opportunities at home has compelled many citizens including women, to seek foreign employment, sometimes making them vulnerable to human trafficking racket, she said, urging the government to take special measures address the situation.<br \/>\nShe also utilised the time to call on the government to prioritise the long-standing issue of landless people and address them swiftly.<\/p>\n<p>Lawmakers also during the special hour called on the government to work in deference to the people&#8217;s trust and aspirations.<\/p>\n<p>They said that since people look to the government for solutions to all their problems, officials should work according to that.<\/p>\n<p>Those lawmakers expressing their views in this line include Kiran Babu Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, Rukmini Koirala of the CPN (UML) and Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP).<\/p>\n<p>Nepali Congress&#8217; Dharmendra Paswan emphasized that everyone\u2019s attention should be focused on achieving peace and prosperity in the country through dialogue, reconciliation, and coordination.<\/p>\n<p>NCP&#8217;s Bhuwan Bahadur Sunuwar drew the government&#8217;s attention to the demands of meter usurious lending victims who are still at Maitighar Mandala pressing for their demands. UML MP Rekha Kumari Jha highlighted to the government the need to control smuggling and criminal activities taking advantage of the Nepal-India open border.<\/p>\n<p>Meantime, the upper house members have drawn the government&#8217;s attention to various contemporary pressing issues including the price rise of daily commodities, shortage of cooking gas, ongoing discriminations on Dalit community, border issues and issues concerning public health.<br \/>\nAiring views in a zero hour of the National Assembly (NA) meeting today, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya said the citizens have been hit by the market inflation, while Bishnu Kumari Sapkota urged the government to promptly undertake measures to control the price hike.<\/p>\n<p>Shree Krishna Prasad Adhikari expressed his concern over the shortage of cooking gas, inflation and consequences on public health due to pesticide- contaminated foodstuffs.<br \/>\nPadam Bahadur Pariyar said the caste-based discrimination against Dalits have not ended, while Pooja Chaudhary drew the government&#8217;s attention to the urgency to address the border issues in Susta of Nawalparasi West through diplomatic dealings.<br \/>\nRenu Chand demanded a fair investigation into the case relating to the death of Pooja Dhanuk of Sudurpaschim.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, Aug 3: Members in the National Assembly (NA) have underlined the need of keeping social harmony intact in the present adverse situation.
