{"id":51605,"date":"2026-07-20T20:26:02","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:41:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=51605"},"modified":"2026-07-20T20:26:02","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T14:41:02","slug":"child-sex-offender-coombs-found-guilty-in-us-too","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/child-sex-offender-coombs-found-guilty-in-us-too\/","title":{"rendered":"Child Sex Offender Coombs found guilty in US too"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, July 20: Kenneth Joseph Coombs, 58, who returned to the US after serving a nine-year prison sentence for child sexual abuse in Nepal, has been found guilty by a US federal court for the crime he committed in Nepal.<\/p>\n<p>The US Department of Justice&#8217;s Office of Public Affairs announced Coombs&#8217; conviction on its website on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Nepal Police&#8217;s Central Police Newsroom, he was arrested by US law enforcement agencies in September 2025 after returning upon completion of his sentence in Nepal. Coombs has been in custody since then. The US court is announcing the sentence on him on October 28, according to the US Department of Justice&#8217;s Office of Public Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The Central Bureau of Investigation had arrested Kenneth Joseph Coombs and 21-year-old Buddha Putawar or Lucche of Swayambhu, Kathmandu, who was assisting him in the child sexual abuse.<\/p>\n<p>The Kathmandu District Court sentenced Coombs to nine years in prison and Lucche to four years.
