Kathmandu, June 9: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) was adjourned today without entering agenda. The House will meet again on Wednesday at 11:00am, announced Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal.<\/p>\n

The meeting, which commenced with several key legislative and budget-related issues on the agenda, was postponed after lawmakers from opposition parties, including the main opposition Nepali Congress, continued their protests in the House.
\nThe disgruntled parliamentarians obstructed the House’s proceedings as soon as it began, demanding a response regarding the Prime Minister Balendra Shah\u2019s remarks in parliament on issues concerning Nepal-India border on May 31.<\/p>\n

It may be noted that PM Shah had, while responding to queries of the lawmakers in parliament on May 31, remarked about land usage along the Nepal-India border, saying, ‘in some places, land currently used and occupied by Nepal may fall on the Indian side while land currently under India’s use and occupation may lie on the Nepal’s side’.<\/p>\n

During today’s session, Speaker Aryal repeatedly urged protesting parliamentarians to take their seats and allow the House to run normally.<\/p>\n

However, the opposition parties rejected the Speaker\u2019s appeals and continued their protest, preventing the proceedings from moving forward.<\/p>\n

Speaker Aryal thereafter announced that the House meeting had been adjourned and would reconvene on Wednesday at 11:00am.<\/p>\n

Among the key items on the agenda for today’s House meeting was the Speaker’s reading of a letter received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers regarding the assignment of additional responsibilities.<\/p>\n

The Speaker was also scheduled to inform the House about the nomination of members to the Business Advisory Committee.
\nMoreover, he was expected to notify lawmakers that the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill, 2082 BS, had not been returned by the National Assembly within the prescribed timeframe.<\/p>\n

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle was set to present a proposal seeking general deliberations on the government’s annual estimates of revenue and expenditure for the fiscal year 2083\/84 BS, accompanied by a statement.
\nThe House was also scheduled to commence discussions on the budget, with the Finance Minister expected to respond to issues and queries raised during the deliberations.<\/p>\n

The agenda further included a proposal by the Finance Minister seeking permission to table the Appropriation Bill, 2083 BS, followed by its formal introduction in the House.<\/p>\n

Similarly, Minister Wagle was expected to seek permission to introduce the Public Debt Recovery Bill, 2083 BS, and the Nepal Rastra Bank (Third Amendment) Bill, 2083 BS, both of which were slated for formal presentation during the day’s proceedings.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Minister for Information and Communications Dr. Bikram Timilsina was scheduled to table a proposal to send the Film Bill, 2082 BS, which originated in the National Assembly, to the concerned parliamentary committee for clause-wise deliberation.<\/p>\n
