{"id":48666,"date":"2026-05-30T20:36:09","date_gmt":"2026-05-30T14:51:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=48666"},"modified":"2026-05-30T20:36:09","modified_gmt":"2026-05-30T14:51:09","slug":"nepal-introduces-soft-power-promotion-agenda-in-budget-for-the-first-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/nepal-introduces-soft-power-promotion-agenda-in-budget-for-the-first-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Nepal introduces soft power promotion agenda in budget for the first time"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, May 30: The government has, through the budget speech for the upcoming fiscal year, introduced a new programme that is about the mobilization of soft powers.<\/p>\n<p>The programme aims to globalize Nepali art, natural heritages and its peaceful image, integrating them in the country&#8217;s journey towards economic prosperity.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the budget before the Federal Parliament on Friday, Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle announced that Nepal would harness its soft power to achieve economic prosperity by strengthening balanced foreign relations based on mutual benefit, national dignity and sovereign interests.<\/p>\n<p>In the context of Nepal, Himalayan mountain ranges, peaks including Sagarmatha (Mt Everest), Lumbini ( the birthplace of Lumbini), cultural diversities, Yoga, meditation practices and arts, tourism, trekking, Nepali hospitality and Nepal&#8217;s peaceful image constitute its key sources of soft power.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first time that the government has incorporated these issues into the budget, aiming to strengthen Nepal&#8217;s international presence, credibility and influence through the integrated promotion of its diplomacy, cultural diversities, identity, technology and tourism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nepal will strengthen its presence in the United Nations and other multilaterals and regional forums, while pursuing robust diplomacy for regional cooperation and connectivity,&#8221; the budget states.<\/p>\n<p>&#8221; We will intensify the promotion of the birthplace of Buddha, Mt Everest-the world&#8217;s tallest peak, the Himalayan mountain range, Yoga and meditation practices, cultural diversity, Nepal&#8217;s image as a peaceful nation and its participation in the international peacekeeping mission for the advancement of Nepal&#8217;s soft power,&#8221; states point 58 of the budget<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, May 30: The government has, through the budget speech for the upcoming fiscal year, introduced a new programme that is about the mobilization of soft powers.
