Their importance and relevance continues to exist even in the present era of modern technology.<\/p>\n<p>At a program organized here today on the occasion of the 30th founding day of South Asia&#8217;s first community broadcasting service, Radio Sagarmatha 102.4 MHz, he said dignified and responsible journalism is the need of the day. He expressed his best wishes that Radio Sagarmatha continues to play an important role in ethical journalism and responsible communications by becoming more technology-friendly.<\/p>\n<p>Pledging to play a role to bring about a positive impact on the sustainability of the media sector,&#8221; Minister Dr Timalsina said through the state was spending Rs. 300 million on public welfare advertisements it has been stopped at the moment due to irregularities. &#8220;The taxes paid to the government should be utilized properly, if public welfare advertisements have been misused, it will be properly accounted for. Public welfare advertisements should be spent for communication that meets the aspirations and expectations of the people,&#8221; the Minister said.<\/p>\n<p>He also recalled having served at Radio Sagarmatha from 2060 BS to 2070 BS and believed that his work at the Radio Sagarmatha was one of the foundations of him becoming a communications minister.<br \/>\nUNESCO Representative for Nepal, Jaco du Toit, said that Radio Sagarmatha has helped to raise the voice of the community during its 30-year journey, and added that community radio has an important role to play in highlighting the voice of the citizens.<\/p>\n<p>Chandrashekhar Karki, Chair of the Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists Group, Chair of the Board of Directors of Radio Sagarmatha, Dr Ghamraj Luintel and Station Manager Urvashi Basnet called for support from the state to community radio stations that have been serving the community.<br \/>\nRadio Sagarmatha, the first independent broadcasting service in South Asia, was launched on Jestha 9, 2054 BS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Patan (Lalitpur), May 23: Minister for Information and Communications Dr Bikram Timalsina has emphasized that community radios should be technology-friendly and operated as per people&#8217;s expectations.
