{"id":47615,"date":"2026-05-13T08:41:48","date_gmt":"2026-05-13T02:56:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=47615"},"modified":"2026-05-13T08:41:48","modified_gmt":"2026-05-13T02:56:48","slug":"market-monitoring-in-tokha-46-erring-businesses-booked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/market-monitoring-in-tokha-46-erring-businesses-booked\/","title":{"rendered":"Market monitoring in Tokha, 46 erring businesses booked"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The Tokha Municipality in Kathmandu district has taken action against 46 businesses during a market monitoring campaign aimed at protecting consumer rights and improving market management.<br \/>\nAccording to the Municipality, surprise inspections were carried out across 11 wards over several days starting May 8.<\/p>\n<p>The monitoring team comprised representatives from the Municipality, Metropolitan Police Force, Central Veterinary Disease Investigation Laboratory, Veterinary Standards and Drug Regulatory Laboratory, Livestock Service Office, Tokha Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Consumer Rights Protection Forum.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Administrative Officer Kamal Bhattarai informed many businesses were operating without proper registration or renewed permits.<\/p>\n<p>During the inspections, authorities found several violations, including the absence of price lists in goods, the sale of expired products, poor hygiene conditions in meat shops and failure to meet minimum operating standards.<\/p>\n<p>The Municipality mentioned that 39 businesses, including fish and meat shops, dairy stores, veterinary medicine shops, handicraft businesses and grocery stores were issued warnings.<br \/>\nDuring the market monitoring conducted in accordance with the Tokha Municipality Market Monitoring Directives-2075 BS, six businesses were fined between Rs 1,000 and Rs 50,000 while one shop was shut down<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Tokha Municipality in Kathmandu district has taken action against 46 businesses during a market monitoring campaign aimed at protecting consumer rights and improving market management.
