{"id":47438,"date":"2026-05-10T21:59:07","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T16:14:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=47438"},"modified":"2026-05-10T21:59:07","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T16:14:07","slug":"finance-minister-wagle-pledges-to-develop-energy-sector-as-a-key-driver-of-countrys-economy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/finance-minister-wagle-pledges-to-develop-energy-sector-as-a-key-driver-of-countrys-economy\/","title":{"rendered":"Finance Minister Wagle pledges to develop energy sector as a key driver of country&#8217;s economy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, May 10: Minister for Finance Dr. Swarnim Wagle asserted that the government has prioritized the energy sector as a driver of the country&#8217;s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Acknowledging the growing contribution of the energy sector to the national economy, Minister Wagle reiterated the government&#8217;s commitment to advancing the sector with a special priority.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister articulated the government&#8217;s priority to the delegations of the Independent Power Producers&#8217; Association of Nepal (IPPAN) and Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) on Sunday.<br \/>\nDuring the meetings, the delegations had submitted a host of recommendations for the fiscal year 2083\/84 BS budget and policy framework.<\/p>\n<p>Presenting the 53-point recommendations, IPPAN President Ganesh Karki called on the government to adopt investment-friendly policies to accelerate the development of the energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>Karki expressed the readiness of the private sector to contribute towards achieving the government&#8217;s ambitious target of generating 30,000 megawatts of electricity within the next 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>He also highlighted the need for the government to consider reopening the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for hydropower projects.<\/p>\n<p>He also urged the government to incorporate the private sector in electricity trading and development of transmission lines so as to boost the country&#8217;s hydropower development and energy exports.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, May 10: Minister for Finance Dr. Swarnim Wagle asserted that the government has prioritized the energy sector as a driver of the country&#8217;s economy.
