{"id":47432,"date":"2026-05-10T18:03:55","date_gmt":"2026-05-10T12:18:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=47432"},"modified":"2026-05-10T18:03:55","modified_gmt":"2026-05-10T12:18:55","slug":"rabi-lamichhane-challenges-acting-cj-over-remarks-on-chief-justice-recommendation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/rabi-lamichhane-challenges-acting-cj-over-remarks-on-chief-justice-recommendation\/","title":{"rendered":"Rabi Lamichhane challenges acting CJ over remarks on chief justice recommendation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, May, 10 : Rastriya Swatantra Party chairman Rabi Lamichhane on Sunday objected to comments made by acting Chief Justice Sapana Pradhan Malla, saying the Constitutional Council\u2019s recommendation for the chief justice post was constitutional and should not be turned into a \u201cstreet issue\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a program marking Law Day, acting Chief Justice Malla had urged judges not to fear the \u201carrogance of a two-thirds majority\u201d or threats of impeachment, adding that \u201cthe fight is not over yet\u201d.<br \/>\nAddressing a training session for party lawmakers, Lamichhane said the judiciary\u2019s dignity and prestige should be preserved and accused critics of politicizing the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you are talking about me, my neck is still there.
