{"id":43792,"date":"2026-03-10T17:24:47","date_gmt":"2026-03-10T11:39:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=43792"},"modified":"2026-03-10T17:24:47","modified_gmt":"2026-03-10T11:39:47","slug":"adb-supports-nepals-digital-transformation-toward-high%e2%80%91impact-services-for-citizens-and-businesses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/adb-supports-nepals-digital-transformation-toward-high%e2%80%91impact-services-for-citizens-and-businesses\/","title":{"rendered":"ADB Supports Nepal\u2019s Digital Transformation Toward High\u2011Impact Services for Citizens and Businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>KATHMANDU, March, 10:\u00a0 The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a $40 million concessional loan to help the Government of Nepal accelerate its digital transformation agenda and expand access to high\u2011impact digital services for citizens and businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The Nepal Digital Transformation Project\u2014the first in South Asia to be cofinanced under the ADB\u2013World Bank Full Mutual Reliance Framework (FMRF)\u2014 will strengthen the country\u2019s data hosting and cybersecurity infrastructure to enhance government-wide digital security and resilience, along with core digital public infrastructure for modern, user\u2011centric services. It will support key initiatives such as developing an integrated citizen service portal, improving the national social registry, establishing a secure government-wide data exchange platform for safe and efficient information sharing, and digitalizing about 11 high\u2011impact government services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDigital transformation is no longer optional\u2014it is critical for improving public service delivery and supporting Nepal\u2019s economic development,\u201d said ADB Country Director for Nepal Arnaud Cauchois. \u201cThe reforms supported by ADB and the World Bank will make key services easier to access, reduce waiting times and administrative barriers, and enhance transparency in government processes\u2014helping build greater trust between citizens and public institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The project will be implemented by Nepal\u2019s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. It aligns with Nepal\u2019s Digital Nepal Framework 2.0, Sixteenth National Plan, e\u2011Governance Blueprint, and ADB\u2019s country partnership strategy for Nepal, 2025\u20132029, which identifies digital transformation as a core crosscutting priority.<\/p>\n<p>The FMRF is an innovative cofinancing arrangement between ADB and the World Bank designed to streamline project preparation, reduce duplication, and deliver faster and more effective development support. The World Bank is the lead lender for the Nepal Digital Transformation Project, approving its $50 million concessional loan in February this year.<\/p>\n<p>ADB is a leading multilateral development bank supporting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth across Asia and the Pacific.
