{"id":3841,"date":"2024-06-18T15:57:55","date_gmt":"2024-06-18T10:12:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=3841"},"modified":"2024-06-18T15:57:55","modified_gmt":"2024-06-18T10:12:55","slug":"hospital-fire-kills-9-in-northern-iran-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/hospital-fire-kills-9-in-northern-iran-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Hospital fire kills 9 in northern Iran: media"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>At least nine patients died Tuesday when a fire tore through a hospital in Iran&#8217;s northern city of Rasht, state media said.<\/p>\n<p>The fire at Ghaem Hospital broke out at 1:30 am (2200 GMT on Monday), state broadcaster IRIB said, adding that it had been put out and investigators were working to determine what had caused it.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unfortunately, nine people lost their lives in this fire accident,&#8221; said Mohammad Taghi Ashobi, president of the Gilan University of Medical Sciences in Rasht.<\/p>\n<p>He told state TV that &#8220;most of the patients who died&#8230; were hospitalised in the intensive care unit&#8221;.<br \/>\nAccording to the reports, the hospital has 250 beds and 142 of them were occupied at the time of the fire.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2023, a massive blaze ripped through a drug rehab centre in Langarud city, also in Gilan province, killing 32 people.<\/p>\n<p>In June 2020, 19 people died in a powerful explosion caused by gas canisters that caught fire at a clinic in northern Tehran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At least nine patients died Tuesday when a fire tore through a hospital in Iran&#8217;s northern city of Rasht, state media said.
