{"id":37502,"date":"2025-12-13T16:31:00","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T10:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=37502"},"modified":"2025-12-13T16:31:00","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T10:46:00","slug":"uml-national-congress-chair-oli-lashes-out-government","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/uml-national-congress-chair-oli-lashes-out-government\/","title":{"rendered":"UML National Congress: Chair Oli lashes out government"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Dec 13: Chairman of the CPN UML, KP Sharma Oli, has lashed out government in his inaugural address in the party&#8217;s 11th National Congress that kicked off in Bhaktapur today.<\/p>\n<p>He accused the government of not working adequately to create atmosphere conducive to election. &#8220;Only talks but no homework is done for election despite fixing the date for voting,&#8221; Chairman Oli said, demanding transparency in government decisions and permission to free mobility of political leaders so that they can carry out party activities.<br \/>\nAccording to him, a fear-free atmosphere with return of the looted weapons and the escaped inmates are prerequisite to election. But, the government has fueled hatred, done media trial and deterred dialogue, he added.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Cases rather that discussions are forwarded,&#8221; Oli, who is also the former prime minister, said, condemning prohibitory order against leaders. &#8220;Threats, coercion and revenge are detrimental to election and system,&#8221; he reiterated.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman viewed it is clear people have aspiration for free and fair election and we too are for it. But threats instead of competition are worrying, he remarked.<br \/>\nThe UML Chairman, however, said his party does not shy away from election at all. He sought cooperation from other parties in a bid to reinstate the dissolved House of Representatives (HoR), reasoning that no atmosphere was made for holding election.<br \/>\nOli took time to remind the youths that some sections were casting aspersions on UML and established parties, arguing they are against Gen Z. However, it was wrong, he stressed.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, he informed that UML had frustrated every misleading blames with facts.<br \/>\n&#8220;Attack on democracy and constitution must be countered with political cooperation,&#8221; Oli underscored.<\/p>\n<p>Chairman Oli severely criticized the agreement the government signed recently with Gen Z groups, saying it was conspiracy hatched to unsettle system. &#8220;The September 8-9 demonstration was not a mere aggression of frustrated youths, but also the ill efforts against constitution and system,&#8221; he asserted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kathmandu, Dec 13: Chairman of the CPN UML, KP Sharma Oli, has lashed out government in his inaugural address in the party&#8217;s 11th National Congress that kicked off in Bhaktapur today.
