{"id":37415,"date":"2025-12-12T12:51:44","date_gmt":"2025-12-12T07:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=37415"},"modified":"2025-12-12T12:51:44","modified_gmt":"2025-12-12T07:06:44","slug":"adb-approves-100-mln-usd-loan-to-boost-financial-access-for-women-entrepreneurs-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/adb-approves-100-mln-usd-loan-to-boost-financial-access-for-women-entrepreneurs-in-india\/","title":{"rendered":"ADB approves 100 mln USD loan to boost financial access for women entrepreneurs in India"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>The Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Friday said it has signed a 100-million-U.S.-dollar loan agreement with Five-Star Business Finance Limited (FBFL) to expand access to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) business loans for women borrowers from lower-income groups in India.<\/p>\n<p>The bank said the loan will be used to fund the project, which aims to increase the company&#8217;s MSME loan portfolio for women borrowers.<\/p>\n<p>The funds will be deployed under a social finance framework aligned with international standards, which will be externally verified through ADB technical assistance.<br \/>\nIt will also support FBFL in embedding gender-responsive practices within its operations, including tailored customer engagement, digital financial literacy programs, and inclusive workplace training.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Women entrepreneurs in India, particularly those from lower-income segments, face systemic barriers such as lack of collateral, informal income sources, and limited financial literacy,&#8221; said ADB Country Director for India Mio Oka.<\/p>\n<p>FBFL finances MSMEs in tier 3 cities and beyond with a track record of serving underserved segments, including supporting women borrowers.
