{"id":36423,"date":"2025-11-28T16:09:30","date_gmt":"2025-11-28T10:24:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=36423"},"modified":"2025-11-28T16:09:30","modified_gmt":"2025-11-28T10:24:30","slug":"shortage-of-specialists-affects-services-of-national-organ-transplant-centre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/shortage-of-specialists-affects-services-of-national-organ-transplant-centre\/","title":{"rendered":"Shortage of specialists affects services of National Organ Transplant Centre"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Nov 28: Services at the Shahid Dharmabhakta National Organ Transplant Center in Bhaktapur have been affected due to a shortage of specialists, resulting in a halt in liver transplantation.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Center\u2019s Executive Director, Dr Kalpana Shrestha, the shortage arose after the retirement of the Center\u2019s sole liver transplant specialist, Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha, in the month of Saun (July-August). Since then, the Center has not been able to provide liver transplant services, which had been available there since 2073 BS.<br \/>\nExecutive Director Shrestha stated that Health and Population Minister Dr Sudha Gautam has already been informed about the issue. \u201cWe have been told that the Ministry and the Secretary are taking the matter seriously and are working to fill the gap,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to this, the Center had recorded 34 liver transplants.
