{"id":31269,"date":"2025-09-16T18:48:18","date_gmt":"2025-09-16T13:03:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=31269"},"modified":"2025-09-16T18:48:18","modified_gmt":"2025-09-16T13:03:18","slug":"three-historical-buildings-damaged-in-arson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/three-historical-buildings-damaged-in-arson\/","title":{"rendered":"Three historical buildings damaged in arson"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Sept 16: Three historical buildings have been damaged in the arson perpetrated during the last week Gen-Z protests.<\/p>\n<p>The historical palaces standing for over 100 years- Shital Niwas (the Office an and Residence of the President, Singha Durbar (the major federal administrative block), and Babar Mahal (the building housing the Department of Roads)- are dubbed heritages as per Ancient Monument Preservation Act, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Except these three historical building, all other religious and cultural heritages are safe.<br \/>\nSpokesperson of the Department of Archaeology, Ram Bahadur Kunwar, said the Department was however saved when some people prevented the mob attack, standing alert at its gate.<\/p>\n<p>However, two motorcycles belonging to the Department were destroyed in the protest.<br \/>\nThe physical property of the Pashupati Area Development Trust suffered damages. Seventeen two-wheelers and 21 four-wheelers belonging to the Trust were destroyed during the protest, according to Gokarna Prasad Upadhyay, Information Officer at Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.<br \/>\nThe Ministry informed that it lost two two-wheelers while three four-wheelers were destroyed.<\/p>\n<p>The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal lost 16 four-wheelers.
