According to the Department of Tourism, a total of Rs 638 million in revenue was collected from mountaineering expeditions climbing different mountains and peaks from March 1-April 21 (spring climbing season) of the current fiscal year.<\/p>\n<p>Forty-one people including 26 men and 15 women successfully climbed Mt Kanchenjunga, the third tallest mountain (8,556 meters) in the world, located at Taplejung in spring season. A total of Rs 10.97 million was collected as royalty from this.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, 66 climbers successfully reached the top of Mt Makalu located in Sankhuwasabha during the season and Rs 16.26 million in revenue was collected from it.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, 374 people\u2014302 men and 72 women scaled the world&#8217;s tallest mountain, Sagarmatha, during spring season and revenue of Rs 554 million was collected from the climbing.<\/p>\n<p>In the spring climbing season, 869 mountaineers\u2014678 men and 191 women, including Nepalis and foreigners &#8211; had successfully scaled 23 mountains and peaks during spring season and Rs 638 million in revenue was collected from it, shared the Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phungling (Taplejung), Sept 2: Number of mountain climbers has been increasing in recent period.
