{"id":28577,"date":"2025-08-10T20:02:19","date_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:17:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/?p=28577"},"modified":"2025-08-10T20:02:19","modified_gmt":"2025-08-10T14:17:19","slug":"two-held-for-stealing-human-remains-from-burning-pyre","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nepalsamaj.com\/en\/two-held-for-stealing-human-remains-from-burning-pyre\/","title":{"rendered":"Two held for stealing human remains from burning pyre"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Kathmandu, Aug 10: Police on Sunday arrested two persons for stealing remains of a human body while being cremated at Pashupati Aryaghat.<\/p>\n<p>They were accused of &#8216;stealing pieces of bone from the dead body&#8217; as it was being burnt as part of the last rites at Pashupati Aryaghat on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Those arrested are Ganesh Dhakal and his aide, according to Superintendent of Police Kuldip Chand at the District Police Range, Kathmandu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They were held after the police received a complaint from the relatives of the deceased, Ram Shahi, from Banepa municipality-9 of Kavre. The relatives accused that Dhakal and his aide extracted a piece of bone from the dead body and handed it over to a tantric while the dead body was burning in pyre,&#8221; Chand explained. The incident occurred on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Police have forwarded investigation into the case.
