In this lush early autumn, it is a great honor to gather with everyone in this, surrounded with holy snow-capped mountains thousands-year-old ancient city of “Kathmandu,” to attend the “Beautiful China: Tibetan Plateau Tourism Promotion Event.” Hello everyone! I am Kunga Tsultrim, the cultural and tourism promotion in charge of Yushu Snow Leopard Travel Agency. I am delighted to meet so many tourism colleagues from Nepal. We are very willing to collaborate with the Nepal-China Tour Organizing Alliance and invite more Nepalese friends and other international tourists to visit China through Nepal. Today, I will take this platform to promote the stunning beauty of Yushu in Qinghai Province, allowing more people to learn about western China, understand Qinghai, get to know Yushu, experience Yushu, and ultimately fall in love with Yushu.
True friendship knows no distance. In recent years, Yushu has established a regular exchange mechanism with Nepal and related regions, discussed forming a sister city relationship with Patan in Nepal, contributed donations to schools in Nepal, and established the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Yushu, Qinghai. These efforts have deepened cultural and economic exchanges between the two sides and actively promoted the “Belt and Road” initiative with practical actions, conducting comprehensive, broad, and multi-level exchanges and cooperation. In 2023, Yushu systematically launched the “Implementation Plan for Building Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture as a Preferred International Eco-Tourism Destination.” This plan highlights strengthening international promotion and cooperation with countries along the Belt and Road, establishing friendly city relations with neighboring South Asian countries such as Nepal, and promoting economic and cultural exchanges. The plan has further improved the system and mechanisms for promoting cultural and tourism exchanges between Yushu and Nepal.
At this moment, we extend a warm invitation to our friends in Nepal to visit the “Home of Mountains Source of Rivers, and Beautiful Qinghai, Yushu: The Source of Three Great Rivers” to experience Yushu’s rich cultural heritage.

Yushu, as the source of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Mekong Rivers, preserves the millennia-old cultural pulse within its 267,000 square kilometers of land. Historically, Yushu was a key hub connecting the Tibetan Plateau with inland China, known as the “Ancient Tang-Tibet Route and the Gateway to Central Tibet.” The construction of the National-Level Tibetan Cultural (Yushu) Ecological Protection Experimental Zone is progressing steadily. It boasts 1 UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage site, 12 national-level, 53 provincial-level, and 41 prefecture-level list, with a total of 389 cultural heritage lists, and 56 nationally and provincially protected historical sites. Yushu is home to a unique blend of mountain, water, plants, animasl, folklore, and Gesar cultures. Yushu is known as ” Hometown of China’s Tibetan Equestrian,” “Hometown of China’s Tibetan Dance,” ” Hometown of China’s Tibetan Folk Song,” and ” Hometown of China’s Tibetan Calligraphy.” Visit Yushu, where you can meet with locals, enjoy the attractions, understand a new life, and experience its millennia-old splendor!
Let us meet in Yushu and explore the ecological highlands where all living things and beings coexist. The main area of the Three River Source National Park, China’s largest part, is located within Yushu. Yushu’s Hoh Xil is China’s 51st World Natural Heritage site, and Rongpo Wetland is listed as an internationally important wetland. Yushu is the key habitat for Tibetan antelopes, snow leopards, wild yaks, and other rare wildlife species of the plateau. It is one of the most biodiverse regions in the world at high altitudes and also one of the world’s richest regions in water resources. In 2022, Yushu Prefecture was selected as one of the sixth batch of National Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zones, continuing to strengthen its ecological security barrier. Yushu relies on world-class eco-tourism resources such as “the Roof of the World: Tibetan Plateau,” “World Heritage: Hoh Xil,” “Source of Three Rivers: China Water Tower,” and “Beautiful Qinghai: Source of Three Rivers.” It integrates into Qinghai’s “One Core, One Loop, Multiple Belts” eco-tourism layout, forming the development pattern of an international eco-tourism destination with “one core, three corridors, three sectors.” Taking the promotion of the self-driving route into Tibet as an opportunity, Yushu successfully opened three new ancient Tang-Tibet roads into Tibet: G214 Southern Line, G345 Central Line, and G109 Northern Line. By holding the first China Wildlife Photography Exhibition and the International Nature Observation Festival, Yushu aims to build an international wildlife photographer destination. By launching the first Yuzhu Mountain Climbing Conference, it is positioning itself as a destination for international climbers of beginners. It also focuses on developing natural river rafting tourism destinations for both domestic and international rafting enthusiasts by using the cultural and natural resources of Three River National Park. Through events such as the Yushu Horse Racing Festival, National Group Dance Competition, and Yushu Special Show at Beijing International Fashion Week, Yushu is accelerating its development as an international, distinctive, and branded eco-tourism destination.

Currently, Yushu Prefecture focuses on ecological priority, aligning itself with international standards and quality, formulating local laws for building an ecological tourism destination, promoting seven measures for cultural prosperity, ten warm-hearted cultural projects, 36 policies benefiting businesses and citizens, and 50 measures to promote high-quality cultural and tourism development.
