US Ready to Cooperate With Nepal’s Interim Government

Kathmandu, Sept 14: The United States has expressed its readiness to cooperate with Nepal’s interim government. In a statement issued by the US Embassy in Kathmandu, Washington said it is prepared to work with Nepal as the interim administration moves toward holding new elections in the coming months.

The embassy welcomed the appointment of Sushila Karki as interim prime minister and described the recent developments as a peaceful resolution following tragic events.

“We commend President Ramchandra Paudel and young leaders for their commitment to a democratic solution, even as we share Nepal’s grief during this difficult time,” the statement read. It also praised the Nepal Army and Chief of Army Staff Ashokraj Sigdel for their role in facilitating the transition and helping restore a peaceful civilian government.

The embassy reiterated that the United States stands ready to support Nepal as it prepares for elections and works to restore stability.
