Agency, August 31: Manchester United finally returned to winning ways in the English Premier League with a dramatic victory. On Saturday night, United edged past Burnley 3-2 at Old Trafford to register their first league win in three months.
Bruno Fernandes and Bryan Mbeumo were both on target for United, while the hosts also benefited from an own goal. Burnley responded with goals from Lyle Foster and Jaidon Anthony.
United took the lead in the 27th minute when Josh Cullen inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. Burnley equalized in the 55th minute through Foster, but just two minutes later, Diogo Dalot set up Mbeumo to restore United’s advantage. Anthony struck in the 66th minute to level things again at 2-2.
As the match seemed destined for a draw, Bruno Fernandes stepped up in the seventh minute of added time to convert a penalty, sealing a thrilling 3-2 win for United.
With this victory, United move up to ninth place in the standings with four points from three matches. Burnley, with three points from the same number of games, sit in 12th place.
In another fixture on the same night, Chelsea defeated Fulham 2-0 at Stamford Bridge to claim their second win of the season. Joao Pedro and Enzo Fernández both found the net for the Blues.
The result lifts Chelsea to the top of the table with seven points from three matches, while Fulham remain 16th with just two points.
